A card is selected, seen in the deck, the deck is handed to the spectator and the card is gone. That's right, gone!

It's hard to believe that such a magical effect could happen right before the spectator's eyes with virtually no moves. But that's nothing. The vanishing of the card pales when compared to its re-appearance anywhere the magician chooses.

The Effect:

The magician takes out a regular deck of cards, shows both fronts and backs to the audience and gives the cards a relaxed shuffle. He then riffles through the deck and invites a spectator to call out 'Stop!' at any time. The card that was stopped on is subsequently noted by the spectator and the deck is closed: the chosen card is never touched. The now closed deck is shuffled and then given to the spectator for safe-keeping.

The magician then states that he will deal the cards face-up, openly, onto the table. When the selected card is seen the spectator is to harness the power of her mind to 'send' the image of the card through the air to the awaiting brain cells of the magician.

As promised, the magician deals all the cards onto the table face-up, but to the surprise of both him and the audience, the chosen card – the card that was just seen – is not there! No-one has touched the cards. No cards have been added or removed. The spectator was holding the deck all along. Something is amiss ...

It is at this point that the spectator starts to believe she was seeing things ... but the effect is not over yet.

The magician looks around, under napkins, inside his jacket, under the table, as if searching for something. He asks the spectator, “There’s nothing in your pocket is there?” She looks back as if to say, "Yeah, right, how on earth could it be in -". But despite believing it to be impossible, she reaches to check her pocket, only to notice there is indeed something in there.

As she pulls out her chosen card a single magic word escapes everyone's quivering lips ... "How?"
